Membership Benefits

These benefits are available exclusively to our members:

  • we're a for-members, by-members organization so most of the benefit is in the power of a community, the helpfulness of other Navion owners, pilots, mechanics, etc.
  • full access to moderated online forums where Navion professionals exchange information, ask questions, and share their knowledge (details below).
  • technical articles and information related to Navions and Navion professionals: events (fly-ins, safety, etc.), flying, owning, operating, and maintaining Navion aircraft. We publish some current articles for reading by anyone who visits our Web site. Archives of those articles, as well as discussions about the articles will be retained for members' access.
  • Navion history; news and plans from vendors of Navion parts and services; and other information of interest to members.
  • helpful information for prospective and new Navion owners, pilots, and others
  • discounted pricing on services such as posting of classified advertisements and our Navion ballcap
  • Navion community connections; for instance, CFI's who offer instruction in the Navion and mechanics who are familiar with the Navion
To join, see our How-To Become a Member page.

Forums

To support our mission, one of our goals is to moderate collegial and constructive online forums for Q&A, exchange of ideas, and information related to Navion aircraft. We believe that Members will benefit by:

  • sharing information and lessons learned
  • connecting with a real-time Q&A tool, through which many years of cumulative Navion experience (other members) can be brought to bear on Navion questions or issues
  • working within the context of a respectful and professional environment

All forums are moderated; that is, a moderator manages each forum. The moderator is something like a referee in sports. A moderator won't change any play that fits within the rules but will strive to ensure that the rules are adhered to and that the game remains fair. Agreement with our rules is required for membership. [ View our Rules ]

Through moderators, we will manage the forums to make sure that: (a) members see value in the online content, (b) the Association’s values (e.g., professional, respectful, collegial) are upheld within the forums, and (c) our online tools remain responsive to the needs of members.

A few of our forums (e.g., Classified Ads, Events & Gatherings) are made available (in read-only mode) to all who visit our Web site (members and non-members). Members have access to a larger set of forums and have the ability to post messages or reply to messages within most of our forums. Members can also "subscribe" to forums, receiving the latest posts in their e-mail every morning. For more information about our forums, go to Forums and visit the About our Forums forum.

What We Aren't

  • We do not manufacture Navion parts
  • We do not create official Navion manuals (Airplane Flight Manual, POH, Parts Manual, Structural Repair Manual, etc.)
  • We aren't experts on a specific airplane. We understand that every Navion is different and needs to be treated uniquely. Most of our content is general in nature and must be tailored and adapted in many cases to apply to a specific situation.
  • We are an online community, not a replacement for qualified on-the-scene professionals. Navion owners, buyers, pilots, and others will often need the services of in-person professionals such as A&P / IA, CFI, etc.

Why We Exist

When our founder (Jon Hartman) was in the process of buying a Navion, he became quite impressed with the technical expertise (in both aviation and mechanical matters) and helpfulness of Navion pilots, owners, flight instructors, mechanics / IA's, and enthusiasts. At the same time, he was convinced that the community needed better Web and online community tools.

It is our hope and intent that this online community will be the network connecting the many helpful Navion professionals (with literally hundreds of years of combined experience). Therefore, we are placing most of our emphasis on Forums and community tools that will enable this members-helping-members approach.
