Notes:
( these notes do not appear on advertisements )

1.   Header Material. In the header area, we like to list the year, make, model, and price of the airplane. In this area, we will also automatically add links to Portable Document Format (PDF) documents that contain (a) the whole advertisement more-or-less at it appears on the Web and (b) the advertisement plus large photos (the "with photos" version results in a larger file, which may require patience for someone downloading over a dial-up connection).

2.   Photographs. We display photographs in a row(s) underneath the header. Each photograph is a "thumbnail" image. Clicking on the thumbnail photo will display the corresponding full-size photo. If multiple photos are included, we automatically include a Web photo gallery. The photo gallery is a window with a tabular view of thumbnail photos in a column on the left and a full-size photo in a frame to the right; similar to the main page, clicking on a thumbnail photo in the gallery will display the corresponding full-size photo in the frame to the right.

Please send us digital photos by e-mail. We will do our best to work with any photos you send -- printed on photo paper or digital photos -- but we strongly recommend digital photos and prefer that you send them to us via e-mail (use our Contact Us link for e-mail address).

3.   Airframe, Engine, and Propeller. In this section, we list general information about the airframe, engine, and propeller.

  • Registration Number (tail number)
  • Owner's city and state; we also list the airport where the airplane is located ... by default, we provide a link to airport information on Airnav.com; if you prefer that we use one or more different sites, please specify.
  • Serial Number
  • Total time on the airframe (TTAF) in hours
  • Annual - at a minimum, we like to included the month and year of the airplane's last annual inspection. If possible, we also provide additional details here; e.g., IFR certifications, inspections per FAR 91.411 and 91.413 ... other major maintenance performed with last annual ...)
  • Engine - (specify the engine make and model, time on the engine, and horsepower)
  • Propeller - (here, please give the propeller make and model, time on the prop, as well as any other details (constant-speed, etc.)
  • TCDS - this is the same for all Navions; no need to provide anything here ... we automatically place the type certificate data sheet information in this area
  • Other Details - list as indicated

4.   Avionics / Panel. This is the section for all avionics and panel information; we recommend including make, model, and details for items such as:

  • Radios: communications, navigation
  • ADF
  • DME
  • GPS
  • Marker Beacons
  • Transponder
  • Antennae
  • Magnetic Compass, etc.

... also in this section, we list:

  • Autopilot (if any) make and model, as well as integration with other systems
  • Audio Panel / Intercom - list the make and model of the audio panel and describe the intercom system (how many places?)
  • Other Details - list any other instruments or panel items of interest (e.g., engine data monitor, fuel computer, and any other equipment of interest). Many of these are so standard that they can be assumed but it may be worthwhile to draw attention to extras

5.   Fuel System. The major items here are (a) the airplane's total (usable) fuel capacity (in gallons) and (b) specify the location of any extra or auxiliary tanks (e.g., under seat, side, baggage compartment, etc.).

Other details should also be listed; examples include:

  • fuel selector valve (four-position: Mains, Left, Right, OFF)
  • fuel transfer system
  • any other comments or notes on fuel system
  • any relevant comments on typical fuel burn (GPH) for given flying conditions (pressure altitude, manifold pressure, RPM)
  • any comments on duration or range from your practical experience

6.   Modifications. List any modifications, such as:

  • Palo Alto tail
  • Cleveland wheels and brakes
  • Toe Brakes (pilot's side or both sides?)
  • Push-to-Talk (PTT) on right side
  • Glass / windows
  • Leading edge / wing root ventilation
  • etc.

7.   Paint & Interior. Rate the condition of the (external) paint and interior ... also, under "Other Details" add information such as:

  • when was it last painted?
  • when was the interior done?
  • what kind of interior?
  • how many seats?

8.   Additional Remarks. Any additional remarks ... bulleted list.

9.   Contact. Here we list the name, address, telephone, and e-mail address of the person who is managing the advertisement and responding to questions related to the aircraft. In the remarks area, details are given concerning preferred contact method, if any. For example, "Best hours to reach me by phone are 6:00 to 9:00 PM (Eastern)."

10.   Date Posted & "Freshness" Date. At the bottom of the ad, we list the date that it was originally posted. We also update the "Current as of" date to show how "fresh" the ad is ... we do not want any ads on our site to be "stale."
