Clint Dalton

Clint Dalton, 58, of Norfolk, VA is the owner of a 1950 Navion Super 260 B model. Clint and his Dad, Buddy, purchased it in 1985 from an estate. It had not flown for approximately 5 years previous. Clint's Uncle, Gene Dalton, an OX5 aviation pioneer and A&P mechanic, helped prepare the Navion for flight.

Over the next few years, the usual modifications were added including modern radios, new paint, Cleveland brakes, fiberglass nose bowl, new windows, rear step, new interior, and finally a rebuilt Lycoming GO-435.

Clint's Navion in Flight

The Navion has made numerous trips from its home base at Hampton Roads Airport in Chesapeake, VA to Sun & Fun and various other fly-ins on the central east coast.

Buddy and Gene are no longer with us, but Clint is active in the local EAA chapter 339 and flies mostly on weekends. A trip to Dayton for the Navion Convention is planed for this June. The Navion is a very stable airplane and flies at approximately 145-150 MPH cruise at 12 gallons per hour. Currently the gear retraction is a little slow. Advice from Ron Judy helped but the master control valve is probably due for an overhaul.

I enjoy the daily updates from the Navion Pilots Association and always look forward to seeing and reading about other Navions.
