News & Technical Information

Access to solid information (with details such as photos, examples of completed FAA Forms 337) is critical in our community. Care for aging aircraft is more effective when we have technical information and resources at our disposal. We hope you'll find the news and technical information inspirational and helpful as you maintain your Navion. The news and information about members of our community helps establish connections and builds a network of Navion mechanics, owners, pilots, and enthusiasts -- always a great source of ideas and information.

Highlights ...

1. News Articles:

  • Sample Article: What Not to Wear. Jon Hartman writes on a significant refurbishment a Navion including new engine, new composite cowling, new avionics, partial refurbishment of the interior. With the benefit of hindsight he discusses what he'd do again ... what he'd change ... and what he'd avoid. This is the seventh and final article in a series on this project. [ View Article ]

2. Tech Notes:

  • Sample Tech Note: The Texas Patch -- thanks to Chip Robinson who (with expert technical input from Brad Hensley and Wes Sanda ... and the editorial work of Brett Matzner) published a Tech Note on this topic. Click the Tech Notes icon above to view the material. If you have any input or thoughts, please reply to Chip's post "Texas Patch" info in the Mechanical & Technical forum.
  • In our Members area, we have another Tech Note on the Navion hydraulic system. Do you want to write our next Tech Note?

Have you got a great article just waiting to be published? If you are doing something with a Navion that other members are likely to find interesting and useful, let us know. We're especially interested if you can develop a fairly detailed article by staying close to a project (small or large) and:

  • documenting the project in reasonable detail, including:
    • what motivated you to start the project?
    • the step-by-step description of what was involved
    • what should others watch out for as potential "gotchas" or issues?
    • what individuals, groups, or companies helped?
    • what was the outcome? what would you do differently?
  • taking good photographs before, along the way, and after
  • providing copies or images of significant documents (e.g., FAA Form 337)

If you've got good material, we'll help you develop it and get it published. Use the Contact Us link to let us know about your potential article.
